 MATERIALS

  • 3/4” thick balsa wood
  • small hobby saw
  • sandpaper
  • thin leather-like material
  • straight pins
  • needle and thread (optional)
  • gold marker pen
  • gold cardboard
 
   

1) Cut balsa wood into one 2” x 1-1/2” piece and one 1-1/4” x 1-5/8” piece.

 2) Sand edges and round corners.

   

3) Trace a pattern around each balsa piece. Then add 3/16” all around. Use the patterns to cut a piece of leather to go on each of the four sides of the wood.

4) Glue the leather in place on the sides. When dry, glue down the edges. Hold in place with pins while the glue dries.
